CONVERSATION WITH STANTON JORDAN OF SOMNIIS AT PHILLY FASHION WEEK 2026
SOMNIIS by Stanton Jordan was by far one of my favorite collections at this year’s Philly Fashion Week.
Jordan’s Collection VII, Halo in the Void, garnered an immediate reaction of “ wow” at almost every look; it transported me to another place. Described as an exploration of “the tension between darkness and divine light”. Because all designers had to use the same set, it was up to their graphics and sound design, and most importantly, their collections to do the heavy lifting of world-building. That is where the flower bouquets for hands come in, and the vibrant colors seemed so natural to this Afrofuturism. This symbolism was something out of this world and yet still so grounded.
Croc embossed leather skirts and dresses that created the silhouette of a flower, also visible in certain hoodie dresses. On the back of bomber jackets, hand-painted imagery displays a deeper message of the brand. Appearing to be handwritten as well. Asymmetrical cuts in skirts, jackets, and singular pant legs emerging from skirts. Each look was a feast for the eye, and at every turn, there were new details to take in.
